Brenda Blisk Receives Bravo Women Business Achievement Award
Silver Spring , MD – Brenda Blisk , CFP®, founder and CEO of The Blisk Financial Group, received a Bravo Women Business Achievement Award today in ceremonies at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Silver Spring . Blisk was one of 25 women honored.
The awards were sponsored by Washington Smart CEO magazine and TiE-DC , an organization dedicated to supporting the community of entrepreneurs in the Mid-Atlantic region. Criteria for the Bravo Awards include overcoming business obstacles, financially outperforming competitors, displaying leadership and work ethic beyond the workplace and using a business base to benefit community fundraising.
Blisk serves clients in more than 20 states and heads a team of six, which includes two other financial consultants, two client service representatives and a research analyst. Her team manages $210 million in assets. She founded The Blisk Financial Group 21 years ago and in 1997 became an Investor Advisor Representative of Legacy Advisors, LLC, in McLean , Virginia . Legacy Advisors is one of Bloomberg's Top Financial Advisory firms in the country (2003 – 2006) and manages over $1 billion in client assets.
In June 2007, Barron's named Blisk to its list of Top 100 Women Financial Advisors . In November 2006, Blisk was selected to attend The Winner's Circle® Summit , a by-invitation-only event for the 500 top Female Financial Advisors in the country. The Winners Circle® recognizes financial advisors who represent the highest ethical behavior, professionalism and success in the industry.
In April 2007, Brenda was chosen by Dunham & Associates to receive the Charlie Eisenmann Client First Service Award . The recipient is chosen for providing superior financial advisory services, adding value and a human touch in delivering those services and demonstrating exemplary efforts in putting the client's interest first. This award was presented to Brenda on May 3, 2007 , at the Dunham & Associates awards banquet in Del Mar, California .
In 1999, Dalbar, Inc. , the nation's leading financial services market research and consulting firm, ranked The Blisk Financial Group in the top 2% in the country in all three areas: Client Satisfaction, Client Performance and Professional Ethics. These awards are based on Dalbar's systematic testing of customer service.
Blisk is involved with several charitable causes in the Metropolitan Washington community. Working with the Ronald McDonald House Charities , she hosted a private educational briefing on June 7, 2007 , for her clients to encourage them to plan for charitable giving though private family foundations. The briefing was held at the Tower Club.
A 20-year cancer survivor, Blisk helps the Lombardi Cancer Research Center raise money for cancer research. She has been an active member of the Women's Committee for 16 years.
Also, Blisk is an active volunteer for the Autism Learning Center , which provides critical resources for autistic children in Northern Virginia , and the Fairfax Community Learning Centers Partnership , which operates technology learning centers for youth in low-income communities. In addition, she supports her clients and their favorite charities by giving auction items, bringing guests to their functions and giving of her own time and talent. Some of the clients' charities she has supported include the Salvation Army, the Air Force Aid Society, Duke University and the American Heart Association. She is also an active volunteer with Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Reston .
